Vala Hjörleifsdóttir is the head of Innovation and Strategic planning at Reykjavík Energy. In her role, she is responsible for innovation and the long-term resource management for the company and its subsidiaries Veitur and ON Power.
Previously, she was a Research Professor in Seismology at the Institute of Geophysics of UNAMin Mexico City. Dr. Hjörleifsdóttir‘s expertise is in seismological observations and modeling. She has supervised several masters and PhD students and has been involved in numerous research projects focusing on topics ranging from ocean bottom geodesy to geothermal resource estimation. She received a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from the University of Iceland in 1999 and a PhD in Seismology from California Institute of Technology in 2007.
