A recent article in the Summer 2021 issue of Henry Magazine (targeting businesses and consumers in the Taupō and Bay of Plenty regions) celebrates New Zealand’s geothermal history, examines the carbon question, looks to supersize geothermal tourism, and profiles the opportunities for going deeper and hotter to extend and expand the energy reach.

‘With our knowledge growing substantially in geothermal resources since the 1940s…the question begs “where to from here?” Especially give the bounds of New Zealand’s hard and fast approach to climate change. How do we capitalise on the deliverables of this resource even more, whilst treading a low – or nil – carbon footprint, and abate sustainable concerns for its future?’
